The second group competitions of the 11th Senyar 2025 Festival kicked off at Sealine Beach in Doha on Wednesday.
Organized by the Cultural Village Foundation – Katara, the event intends to pay tribute to Qatari mari-time heritage, in pursuit of promoting a deep-rooted cultural identity.
The group comprises 27 teams competing in a spirited maritime setting, during a fishing period that stretches from dawn until sunset, where the catch varies in accordance with rigorous environmental regulations and stringent safety standards set by the organizing committee.

The regulations include adherence to the designated fishing zones, the species and sizes of fish that are allowed to be caught, as well as full adherence to maritime safety measures throughout the entire maritime expedition.
Operations chambers deployed on the ground are rigorously monitoring the fishing practices in coor-dination with emergency and maritime safety teams to ensure safety for all participants.
The technical and judging committees continue meticulously inspecting fish hauls and tallying results per approved standards, ensuring fairness and transparency in determining the winning teams.
Director of Operations for Senyar 2025 Saeed Abdulrahman Al Kuwari highlighted that operation chambers have been operating around the clock since the commencement of this event, based on an integrated system that ensures safety for all participants.
The competitions are set to conclude on Thursday, with results to be announced and winners crowned during the grand Qafal ceremony on Friday at 4 p.m. at Katara Beach, amid a festive heritage atmos-phere celebrating Qatar’s deep-rooted bond with the sea.
