DOHA: The OICC-INCAS Qatar Malappuram District Committee presented a memorandum to Adoor Prakash, Member of Parliament from Attingal, Kerala, during his recent visit to Qatar.

The memorandum highlighted critical challenges faced by Indian expatriates in Qatar, focusing on the absence of an Indian embassy-run school and the steep airfare hikes during vacation periods.

It said that unlike other GCC countries where schools operate under or in collaboration with Indian embassies, the lack of such a system in Qatar poses significant difficulties for ordinary expatriate families. It also addressed the high cost of air travel during school holidays, which further burdens the 830,000-strong Indian community in Qatar.

Adoor Prakash assured the delegation that he would raise these issues in the Indian Parliament and bring them to the attention of the Central Government to address the concerns of the expatriate community.

The memorandum was handed over by President Naufal Kattuppara in the presence of General Secretary Jafar Kambala, Rajeesh, Wazim, Irfan Pakara, and Anees Valapuram.
