HMC’s mental health helpline receives over 2,000 calls per month

Hamad Medical Corporation (HMC) revealed that its National Mental Health Helpline has been receiving over 2,000 calls per month since its launch in April 2020.
The helpline service that has been highly rated by users is the primary access point for mental health services for callers seeking supportive and confidential mental health care, and the service has been highly rated by users.
The National Mental Health Helpline, provided by HMC’s Mental Health Services Department, is staffed by a highly qualified and experienced team of professionals, including nurses, psychiatrists, psychologists, along with allied health professionals.
The helpline is accessible to all individuals, providing rapid access to necessary support, especially during difficult mental health crises.
Its role is not limited to providing support during crises, but also includes guidance and advice on mental health services available to individuals and their families.
It also serves as a key access point for services like specialized support in the field of women’s mental health and addiction support, making it a comprehensive reference for anyone facing mental health challenges.
Chairman of the Department of Psychiatry at HMC, Dr. Majid Al Abdulla said in press statement that the National Mental Health Helpline serves as a vital lifeline for individuals across Qatar, providing immediate access to the necessary care when needed.
He added that timely support through this helpline helps individuals address their mental health problems at an early stage, thus preventing conditions from becoming more complex.
Assistant Executive Director of Clinical Service Development at the Mental Health Services Department, Katja Warwick-Smith said that the helpline services consistently achieve high satisfaction rates of up to 90 percent, according to callers who have given positive feedback about the service, which is available in Arabic, English, Tagalog, Hindi, Urdu, and Malayalam.
The National Mental Health Helpline, available at 16000, provides confidential, free, and highly efficient support to all residents of Qatar, contributing to ensuring a mentally healthy and well-supported society.
