Ministries launch nationwide survey to regulate dangerous animals and creatures

The Ministry of Environment and Climate Change, in collaboration with the Ministry of Interior, has announced the commencement of a nationwide survey and inventory aimed at regulating the acquisi-tion of dangerous animals and creatures. This action is in accordance with Law No. (10) of 2019, which governs the regulation of dangerous species.
The Ministry calls on all owners and possessors of the dangerous animals and creatures listed under the law to promptly register them in the special registry. This can be done by filling out the registration form and submitting it via email to DP@mecc.gov.qa.

The registration period will remain open for three months, with the final deadline set for April 22, 2025.
The Ministry has emphasized the importance of compliance with the law, highlighting that the unlaw-ful acquisition of dangerous animals and creatures without proper licensing is a criminal offense. Violators may face imprisonment for up to three years, a fine of up to QAR 100,000, or both penalties, as per Article 8 of the Law.
This initiative seeks to enhance public safety and ensure adherence to legal standards, while also safe-guarding the environment.
The following animals and creatures are subject to registration:
American Staffordshire Terrier, American Pit Bull Terrier, Boston Terrier, German Pinscher, Staffordshire Terrier, Bull Terrier, Ca de Bou, Canary Dog, Dogo Argentino, Brazilian Mastiff, Spanish Mastiff, Neapolitan Mastiff, Bulldog, Bull Mastiff, Old English Mastiff, Dogue de Bordeaux, Boxer, Great Dane, Rottweiler, Shar Pei, Cane Corso, Kangal Dog, Tibet Dog, Sheepdog Caucasian, Ovcharka, Alpine Mastiff, and various wild animals like Panthers, Tigers, Leopards, Jaguars, Pumas, Cheetahs, Hyenas, Foxes, Wolves, Crocodiles, Baboons, Mangabeys, Chimpanzees, Gorillas, Spiders, Snakes, Scorpions, Wild Cats, and Bears.
