The Ministry of Commerce and Industry is conducting an inspection campaign at shopping malls and supermarkets to make sure that their promotional offers and sales campaigns adhere to rules and regulations.

The campaign aims to ensure that stores adhere to the quality of products and guarantee the validity of the announced promotional offers, to avoid any price manipulation or fake offers.
The Ministry noted, through its account, the prohibition of selling goods or services at reduced prices without a li-cense, based on Ministerial Resolution No. 311 of 2018 regarding selling at reduced prices.
Article No. 2 of Resolution No. 311 of 2018 prohibits shops from selling goods or services at reduced prices or advertising this by any means except after obtaining a license to do so from the administration, in accordance with the terms, conditions and situations stipulated in this resolution.
Several supermarkets and shopping malls regularly launch sales and promotions to boost sales and there have often been complaints from customers that these promotions are fake through a manipulation of prices.
The Ministry’s inspection campaign will help warn outlets against any such malpractices.
