UP Welfare Association celebrates Labour Day

DOHA: Uttar Pradesh Welfare Association (UPWA) celebrated International Labour Day on 1, May 2025 at Old Indian Ideal School, Doha, by inviting labourers from the construction industry and giving them guidance to follow in Qatar.

Harish Panday, First Secretary, Culture and Education (Indian Embassy Qatar), was the chief guest while Khalid Abdul Rahman (Ministry of Labour), Obaid Tahir and Subramanya Hebbagelu were guests of honour.

More than 150 people, including family members and labourers, attended the function. Asif Khan, VP of the association, greeted all the attendees while Obaid Tahir and Subramanya gave guidelines about labour law.

The inspiring speech of Pandey, sharing his own experience in life, captivated the audience.

Ziauddin Ahmed, President of the association, outlined the importance of sports in our busy lives and thanked all the dignitaries. R J Nazia of FM 107 hosted the event.

A friendly cricket match was played between UPWA-B and UPWA-C teams. Mussaraf Ghani Khan and Kashif Habib introduced the players to Khalid.

UPWA-C team won the match by a comfortable margin of 41 runs.

The programme ended with the distribution of food packets to all workers.
